Pizzeria Orsucci, recognized as a Historic Shop in 2010, was founded back in 1936 by Mr. Armando Orsucci on Via Saraceno, in the easternmost part of the old Via dei Sabbioni, an ancient axis of the city’s medieval core.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This historic pizzeria has seen four generations of pizza makers pass through: grandfather Armando, his sons Vero and Giulio, then Armando, grandson of the founder and current owner, who has been joined by his son Matteo. For 90 years, the Orsucci family has been preparing with great passion and simplicity the unmistakable pizzas \u201cwith\u201d and \u201cwithout\u201d (anchovies) and the inimitable chickpea flatbread slices, with dough made by hand and baked in a wood-fired oven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chickpea farinata, introduced in Ferrara precisely by the Orsucci family, originally from a small town in the province of Lucca, is a delicacy baked in the wood-fired oven, in a large tinned copper pan, and served in slices. The shop also specializes in preparing a dish from the humble peasant tradition: castagnaccio, a cake made from chestnut flour, typical of the Emilian Apennine areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The furnishings, the original artistic decorations of the venue and the black-and-white family photographs evoke the scents and flavors of the past, offering new generations precious mementos, combined with the unmistakable taste of tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also not to be missed are the film stills hanging on the pizzeria’s walls, taken from the film Ossessione by Luchino Visconti, in which, back in 1943, Mr. Armando was immortalized with his ice-cream cart in front of his shop, which was transformed for filming purposes into a dairy shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To remind us of a more recent past, there are also some photographs from the 70th anniversary of the business, as well as dedications from loyal customers and friends who love coming back to the pizzeria for its unmistakable culinary specialties and for the family atmosphere that has always accompanied every delicious bite of pizza or chickpea flatbread.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
