Pasticceria Carli
Pasticceria Carli, located at the beginning of via Mazzini, the heart of the old Jewish Ghetto, near Piazza Trento e Trieste, has taken up the legacy of the historic shop: Pasticceria bar Gelateria Bida.
Founded in 1920 by the pastry chef Ugo Bida, it was for more than a century a meeting point for all the citizens of Ferrara. Mr. Ugo and his wife, known to everyone by the nickname “Bidina”, served their artisanal delicacies to at least three generations of Ferrara residents: their sweet and savoury pastries, the torta di tagliatelle con le mandorle, the tenerina, the pampepato, the riccioline, the cannoncini were for years their signature specialities.
In 2024 the management passed into the hands of Pastry Chef Ruggero Carli, a master pastry chef belonging to the team of the Italian Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate Making (Federazione Italiana di Pasticceria, Gelateria e Cioccolateria), as well as World Champion of artisanal Panettone.
With this change in management, Ferrara’s tradition has joined forces with innovation: a fashionable pastry shop that seduces the eye and wins hearts with its taste.
In the bright pastry shop windows you will now find brioches, cannoncini and bomboloni, Sicilian cannoli, babà, slices of Tenerina and Sacher cake, macarons and other delicacies, offering customers such a wide choice as to satisfy everyone’s tastes.
In 2025, the huge success of the business led to an expansion of the historic shop, incorporating the adjacent premises and thus extending both the indoor capacity and the pastry workshop. The beautiful outdoor seating area has always been the pride of this historic shop, offering its patrons a delightful break while admiring the nearby Piazza Trento e Trieste.
